The Town of Batman Would Have Killed Catwoman

There is a story at nytimes.com about a city in Turkey called Batman where young women who have crushes on boys at school are forced to commit suicide by their families. Really. It's true. Go on the website and read it. It's horrifying and I am writing a letter to the Turkish government right now. Who knows if they will get it because they may burn it at customs. Girls are not being allowed to be girls. It is real for a girl AND a boy to have a crush on someone. When I read things like this I feel helpless.

Is there anything we, at Susan B. Anthony Middle School in the Catalina Mountain school district in the city of Tucson in the state of Arizona in the western region of the United States in the country of the United States in the Western Hemisphere on the planet Earth can DO? THAT IS THE QUESTION THAT I WANT YOU TO ANSWER. PLEASE.
